Thomas is thirteen years old and is Caucasian. He likes school, especially science class. He loves to spend time outdoors fishing and hiking. Thomas likes to eat and likes pets. He is very mature for his age and does well interacting with his peers. His care-givers describe him as “a great kid” and “helpful”.

Thomas has some issues that he needs a foster parent’s help to work through. He has taken things that don’t belong to him and lied to authority figures, but he admits his wrongdoing when   confronted. He likes to get his own way (who doesn’t?) and can be oppositional when things don’t go his way. He sometimes gets angry but has learned to talk about things instead of acting out his anger aggressively. Thomas has had a history of inadequate   supervision by his biological family, which led to him making some bad safety decisions.

Thomas is from a rural community, so is intimidated by an inner-city environment. Thomas has been an only child when in a home environment, but has lived successfully with other children in a group setting. The ideal family for Thomas would have no     children younger than he is.
